First Fridays Beach Picnic in Surfside

For the Family, Food/Tasting

Surfside, Miami’s uptown beachtown, is bringing a slice of the Caribbean to locals at the next First Fridays event to be held on Friday, June 2. During this family-friendly beach picnic, locals can kickoff the weekend with a visit to Surfside’s pristine beach for a number of fun activities. Enjoy a tepee village, an interactive drum circle, a Bahamian Junkanoo marching band and a fashion showcase from Miami-based boutique BASK and designer Sonia Trussardi Sepe. Locals also can nosh on fresh ceviche and quench their thirst with coconut water courtesy of Harmless Harvest – all while basking in ocean breezes and listening to Caribbean steel drum music. The Caribbean-themed Beach Picnic is scheduled from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on June 2, 2017 at the Oceanfront Community Center, located at 9301 Harding. First Fridays is free and open to the public. The public can RSVP at https://www.facebook.com/FridayBeaching/ Upcoming First Fridays events also include: Americana-style picnic with s'mores, American folklore storyteller, haystack maze on the beach and more (July 7); and Bollywood with Indian food, henna tattoos, and Bollywood dancers (August 4.) More details on these beach events to follow soon.
