March For The Ocean

Fair/Festival, Green/Environmental, Reggae, Art Show, Parade

On World Oceans Day weekend, thousands are expected to March in DC and at simultaneous events around the world. Surfrider Foundation Broward County Chapter and Free Our Seas will host a South Florida March for the Ocean celebration. The intention is to create an atmosphere of positive community activism celebrating our oceans with music, art, and environmental non- profit organizations. Festivities will feature positive reggae vibes from DJ Lance-O of Kulcha Shok Muzik, an art contest for best ocean themed costumes, posters, and beach clean-up buckets, marine debris art on display created by Free Our Seas and Beyond, and other ocean advocates. A marching band will leading parade-goers at 10am north to the Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC). At the MEEC halfway point, enjoy an ice, refill water bottles, visit Captain the sea turtle, and cool off under a sprinkler before heading back to Charnow Park.
