The #1 cultural arts destination festival is set to be an exceptionally high-spirited, family friendly, multi-cultural arts and educational event. Delou continues to “Bridge Cultural Gaps” by expanding the knowledge base of the community through a variety of program components for the entire family to enjoy such as: African, Contemporary and Caribbean Dance Workshops; Drum and Music Workshops; African Fashions, Yoga; a Better Living Health Fair; a Raffle Drawing; a Global Bazar; and a free Children’s Village Zone that includes Dance and Drum Workshops; Arts & Crafts; African Folktale; and a Back to School Book Bag Give-Away. The festival Concert Extravaganza which is historically sold out will be held on Saturday, August 4th. The celebration will feature fashions by All Over Africa. Our diverse and talented groups representing the Caribbean, United States and Africa, are Nancy St. Leger Danse Ensemble, Sikan Afro-Cuban Dance Project, African Watoto (children’s) Dance Theatre, West African Drum & Dance Collective, featuring world renowned native African dancers and drummers/musicians, Next Generation Dance Academy with Edwin Holland Dance Ensemble and Miami’s Premier Traditional West African Performing Arts Company Delou Africa Dance Ensemble all performing on DanceAfrica, Miami’s main stage. Our MC will be Mohamed DaCosta, professor of West African folklore dance and music from the University of Florida. This event is open to the general public.
