Ambassador Eisen Opens Alper JCC Jewish Book Festival

One fashion icon, two U.S. Ambassadors and four Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winners add up to an illustrious and eclectic list of presenters at the 38th Annual Alper JCC Berrin Family Jewish Book Festival. The event runs from Oct. 16th through Mar. 13, 2019 and features National Book Award winner Rachel Kadish, Ambassadors Norma Eisen and Wendy Sherman, NBC’s former Israeli Bureau Chief Martin Fletcher, fashion legend Isaac Mizrahi and Steven Levenson, the co-creator of the Broadway’s 2017 Best Musical Dear Evan Hansen. A Night of Bernstein’s Music features Jamie Bernstein, who shares her memoir Famous Father Girl, followed by a musical tribute to her father, Leonard Bernstein, with members of Civic Chorale of Greater Miami conducted by Paul Hoyle. Recently seen on Megyn Kelly Today, Yvette Corporon shared her book, Something Beautiful Happened, about her grandmother’s roots in Greece and the people who hid a Jewish family from the Nazis. It is a bittersweet story of survival and courage.

Sally Kohn at Alper JCC Book Fest

In The Opposite of Hate, she travels the world and investigates the evolutionary and cultural roots of hate and how simple incivility can be a gateway to horrific situations.
