Multi-Faith Development for Youth

Children, Religious, Education, Green/Environmental

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami invites families Sunday mornings beginning Sept. 9 for “The Crossing Paths,” an experiential, faith exploration curriculum. Children and youth, ages 7-17, will enjoy learning about several religious traditions, studying age-appropriate aspects of that faith’s theology, each for four weeks, and may include a day of visiting the faith's worship service. The children’s programming, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., with class from 11:15-12:15, includes experiential learning on our five-acre grounds. We have a large labyrinth for walking meditation, a brick-paved memorial garden often graced with owls, and a pineland hammock. Children will learn to reduce waste at our compost area, and they will learn about native plants and xeriscaping. Throughout the fall and winter, families will be invited to campfires, cook outs and drum circles at our kid-safe fire pit. Teens are also invited to gain experience and community service hours at frequent opportunities. Our classrooms meet all safety codes, and offer floor to ceiling glass so nature is our companion as we explore spiritual possibilities. Infants and children under age 7 will enjoy the playground and nursery staffed with two certified care-givers, and plenty of safe toys and stimulating play. This care is offered until 1:00 p.m. so parents can enjoy lunch and fellowship after the adult service. UU Miami is located just east of the Palmetto Expressway off Sunset Drive at 7701 SW 76 Ave. Visit UUMiami.org or by email the Director of Religious Education, Barby Jimenez, at dreuumiami@gmail.com to learn more.
