Free @ The Frank Workshop: Patterns of Africa! Multicultural Design Workshop for Kids

Painting, Children's Arts/Crafts

In this hands-on workshop, children six years and older will discover the artistic traditions of African cultures and learn fun painting techniques with every day art materials. Participants will create vibrant patterned designs inspired by the beautifully painted houses of the Ndebele people and the fine traditional robes of the Maasai tribe of Kenya. The event is free and open to the public. Children must be supervised. All materials provided and no prior experience is required.

Frank Contemporaries is a free monthly pop-up exhibition and meet-up for emerging creative and visual arts professionals to network and foster connections. At May’s Frank Contemporaries, students of the new Academy of Portraiture and Figurative Art of Florida International University will present with their department head, David Chang. This event is free to the public. Complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Kids’ Corner @ The Frank: Story Time Hour

Children's Arts/Crafts

Join The Frank for story time. Together with their guardian, children ages eight and under build literacy and engage in art activities related to the exhibition, Into Africa. In celebration of African heroes, our featured storybook will be “Emmanuel's Dream: The True Story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah” by Laurie Ann Thompson. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The event is free and open to the public.

“The Lion King” Under the Stars! Movie Night on the Plaza

Film, For the Family, Animals, Children

Spend a night under the stars at The Frank! Enjoy an educational film by National Geographic followed by an outdoor screening of Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ on the City Center Plaza. Bring family and friends, and don’t forget your chairs and blankets! Free to the public. All ages welcome. Plaza opens at 7:30 p.m. and the movie begins at sundown. Candy, snacks, water and sodas will be available for purchase.

Frank Contemporaries is a free monthly pop-up exhibition and meet-up for emerging creative and visual arts professionals to network and foster connections. The June Frank Cotemporaries will feature surrealist painter Alim Smith, visual artist Najja Moon, sculptor Ariel Ortega and street artist Sinclair the Vandal. This event will include a presentation on the upcoming events and offerings of both the Miami-based creative community collective ‘The BLCK Family’ and queer women’s membership club ‘This Girls Lunchbox,’ by co-founder Najja Moon. This event is free to the public. Complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
