Hustle – Opening Reception

Gallery, Art Show, Ceramics/Pottery

The Frank presents “Hustle,” a collection of work exploring the pop-sensibilities of South Florida’s urban art with an emphasis on process, labor and work. Hustle will open with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. and is free and open to the public. In addition to the amazing artwork, guests also will enjoy a special spoken word performance by Darius V. Daughtry, founder and director of the Art Prevails Project.

“Mommy and Me” @ The Frank! Story Time Hour

Family/Child (Books), Poetry Reading/Spoken Word

Join The Frank on the first Saturday of every month for story time. Together with their guardian, children ages eight and under build literacy and engage in art activities related to the new exhibition, Hustle. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The event is free and open to the public.

Careers in the Arts: Raquel Farrell-Kirk

Art Talk

Careers in the Arts is a monthly lively lecture series that focuses on a wide range of professions including and beyond the practice of art. Raquel Farrell-Kirk, a licensed Broward-based art therapist and interdisciplinary educator, will share her journey of what led her to becoming an art therapist and how she has practiced art therapy at adult addiction treatment facilities, teen addiction treatment centers and senior centers to those with Alzheimer’s, dementia and more. The event is free and open to the public.

Imagination Meets Urbanism: Mixed Media Painting

Photography, Art Talk

In this hands-on workshop, artist Marina Gonella will teach students how to celebrate their own cities through urban artmaking techniques. Using photos of their cities, neighborhoods and environment, students will learn how to layer different media and will apply creative drawing methods to create collage-like imaginary cityscapes. The event is free and open to the public. Materials will be provided. No previous experience required and participants must be 12 years and older.

Frank Contemporaries

Art Talk

Frank Contemporaries is a free monthly pop-up exhibition and meet-up for emerging creative and visual arts professionals to network and foster connections. September’s Frank Contemporaries features new work and artist talks by printmakers Kim Spivey, MFA, Florida Atlantic University and printmaker Ingrid Schindall, owner and director of IS Projects printmaking studio, as well as a performance by jazz vocalist Ashley Pezzotti. This event will also include an exhibition walkthrough by Laundromat Art Space manager Ronald Sanchez and a presentation by guest speaker Clare Vickery, Director of Grace Arts FL. Complimentary wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Free and open to the public.
