Mixed Media

In this mixed media workshop, featured Hustle artist Ronald Sánchez will demonstrate a variety of street art techniques merged with typography, masking and assemblage. Students will apply these methods to create an eye-catching work of contemporary art that is equal parts pop and urban art. This event is free and open to the public. All materials provided and no prior experience is required. Ages 12 years and older.

Frank Contemporaries is a free monthly pop-up exhibition and meet-up for emerging creative and visual arts professionals to network and foster connections. October’s Frank Contemporaries features new work and artist talks by painter Joana Fischer, founder of The Line Miami artist collective and mixed media artist Nick Mahshie, ArtCenter/South Florida; M.Des, as well as a special performance by jazz vocalist Justine Garcia. This event will also include a presentation by guest speaker Darius V. Daughtry, founder and artistic director of the Art Prevails Project. Complimentary wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres will be served. This event is free and open to the public.

Careers in the Arts: Nerissa Street

Careers in the Arts is a monthly lively lecture series that focuses on a wide range of professions including and beyond the practice of art. Nerissa Street is an award-winning filmmaker, arts educator and storyteller. Her organization, Girls Call The Shots, works with teen girls to develop their voices in film and media through professional mentorship and production experience. She has presented the transformative power of film and storytelling to audiences including South by Southwest®, TEDx, Images and Voices of Hope, and the Women's Media Center. Street will discuss her career journey and offer advice to aspiring artists. This event is free and open to the public.

“Afterglow” Opening Reception

The Frank art gallery presents “Afterglow,” an exhibition focused on defining the self through fleeting experiences. Featuring Reginald O’Neal (L.E.O.), Kandy G. Lopez and Michael Williams, the new exhibition will open Thursday, November 15 with a free reception from 6 to 8 p.m. and will be on display until January 26, 2019. For a limited time, the artists from Schott Communities, a South Florida non-profit organization founded to address the needs of persons who are deaf, physically, or intellectually challenged, will show case in The Frank’s third space through December 15.

“Mommy and Me” @ The Frank! Story Time Hour

Join The Frank for story time! Together with their guardian, children ages eight and under build literacy and engage in art activities related to the new exhibition, Afterglow. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The event is free and open to the public.

November’s Frank Contemporaries is a special college edition, showcasing, creative works by the students of Florida International University. Featuring a survey of new works by current cohorts and alumni of the FIU Ratcliffe Art & Design Incubator. Featured creatives include Victoria Yunta, Laura David, Victoria Caraballo, Chris Friday and Michael Fernandez. This event will include a presentation on artistic thinking and business innovation by guest speaker Neil Ramsay, creative economist and Founder of ArtsUP! Concepts, a hybrid of concept, gallery and public space. Complimentary wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
