StoryWalk in the Pines: Literacy through Art on the Plaza

Broward County Library and The Frank offer children and their caretakers a free, fun-filled literacy experience on the Plaza at the Charles F. Dodge City Center. Walk together outdoors and embark on a self-guided journey through each page of the vibrant children’s book “Maybe Something Beautiful” by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell. Free games, snacks, arts and crafts, and photo-ops will be enjoyed by all. The first 200 families to complete the StoryWalk will receive a free copy of the featured children’s book to take home. This event is free to the public. Free items offered while supplies last. Children must be supervised. All Ages.

Uniquely You! Patterns & Painting Workshop for Kids

Children's Arts/Crafts

Led by art educator Debi London, together with their caretakers, kids will learn fun and rewarding painting techniques with everyday art materials. At the workshop, participants will enjoy “You Be You” by Linda Krantz, a story about individuality and confidence- building. Using the author’s multicolored fish as inspiration, children will learn about pattern and design, and will then create boldly patterned fish using paint, markers and pebble rocks. This event is free to the public. All materials provided. No prior experience required. Children must be supervised. Ages 6 years and older.

Frank Contemporaries

Art Show

Frank Contemporaries is a free monthly pop-up exhibition and meet-up for emerging creative and visual arts professionals to network and foster connections. In honor of Black History Month, February’s Frank Contemporaries will showcase the striking and symbolic artwork of Chris Friday, an MFA Candidate at Florida International University and a Ratcliffe Art + Design Incubator fellow. This event will include a musical performance by Art Prevails Project vocal artist JaShae L. Jones, as well as a presentation on urban innovation, growth and transformation by representatives of URGENT Inc., a 501 (c) (3) Miami-based youth and community development organization dedicated to empowering young minds to transform their communities. URGENT Inc. students will also be showcasing artwork from their recent “Our Voice Matters” illustration project.
