9th Annual Community Care Plan Non-Profit Awards

2-1-1 Broward is pleased to announce the 9th Annual Community Care Plan Non-Profit Awards presented by Signature Grand and hosted by 2-1-1 Broward. Community Care Plan is the first safety-net, hospital-owned Provider Service Network that serves members enrolled in Medicaid, Children’s Medical Services Network and self-insured employee health plans. The annual awards ceremony celebrates the hard work, dedication and achievement of Broward County’s non-profit organizations and its leaders. Evoking the iconic symbols of a glamorous awards show with a red carpet and searchlights, the awards ceremony and luncheon will take place on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Signature Grand in Davie. Three finalists, from the 10 award categories, will be announced during the VIP Announcement Party held on January 15, 2019 at Dave & Buster’s in Hollywood. The winners and finalists in each category will receive a monetary grant award for each of their non-profit organizations. Those nominated but not selected as a finalist will be eligible to win a $1,000 grant for their organization through the Publix Community Choice Award. Online voting for the Publix Community Choice Award will be open after January 16, 2019 at This year’s event co-chairs include Dr. Deberenia Allen-McKinzie, Medical Director of Population Health of Community Care Plan, and Shelley Eichner, Senior Vice President of Calvin, Giordano & Associates. Tickets to the 9th Annual Community Care Plan Non-Profit Awards are $100 per person for general admission, $85 for CLUB 2-1-1 members and $75 per person for non-profit staff/government representatives. After February 1, 2019, all tickets are $100 per person. Table Sponsorships begin at $1,500. Partnership opportunities range from $1,500 to $10,000. Rising Above Stigma: Conference for Parents

Community Event

United Way of Broward County Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention, in collaboration with Broward Behavioral Health Coalition, is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the Rising Above Stigma Conference on Saturday, February 23, 2019 in Broward County. The event will focus on supporting and raising awareness of behavioral health and substance use prevention within the Hispanic Community. Ismael Cala, life and business strategist, best-selling author and international speaker identified by The New York Times as “The Latino Larry King,” will serve as the Keynote Speaker on both days of the Rising Above Stigma Conference. Cala will speak about his personal experience with mental health and will discuss life strategies to help overcome barriers to health and wellness. Women In Distress 13th Annual Starfish Luncheon


The 13th Annual Women In Distress Starfish Luncheon presented by JM Family Enterprises, Inc./Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC and Ultimate Software, will honor community leaders: Broward College (Gregory Adam Haile, President) and Memorial Healthcare System (Aurelio Fernandez III, CEO & President) for their significant contributions to improve the lives of survivors of domestic violence. A survivor of domestic violence will also be recognized and will receive the Marti Huizenga Endowment for Educational Advancement Scholarship. This annual event supports Women In Distress mission to end domestic violence abuse for everyone. An inspirational, powerful program will celebrate the courageous journey survivors have taken to leave a life of abuse and become strong, productive members of our community.
