Flamenco Intimo is an original production by renowned flamenco dancer and choreographer and artistic director Siudy Garrido. Flamenco Intimo features original music from composer and flamenco guitarist Jose Luis de la Paz and renowned musical figures in the guitars, singing and percussion, along with a corps de ballet starring six extraordinary dancers.

The United States Air Force Concert Band & Singing Sergeants

Cover/Tribute Band/Performer, Special Event

Based in Washington, D.C., The United States Air Force Concert Band is the premier symphonic wind ensemble of the United States Air Force. Together with the Singing Sergeants, the official chorus of the United States Air Force, these groups represent the U.S. Air Force and our country as part of The United States Air Force Band. Both groups frequently perform for national television broadcasts and online videos, including the Band’s annual holiday flash mobs, which have been viewed by millions worldwide. On tour, the Concert Band and Singing Sergeants present classic and new wind ensemble repertoire, stellar instrumental and vocal soloists, medleys of opera classics and Broadway favorites, and moving patriotic tributes to our heroic veterans. Whether these groups are performing in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, throughout our great country or around the world, they are proud to represent all Airmen, whose selfless service and sacrifice ensure the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of the United States of America.

The Forgotten Kingdom - Guy Mendilow Ensemble

The Forgotten Kingdom uses evocative music and story to ignite imaginations. Guy Mendilow and his international musical collaborators bring audiences on a musical trek through a nearly lost world, a journey through former Ottoman lands starting in Sarajevo and winding through Salonica. The intertwining music and storytelling conjure voices lost to war, recorded in a language blending archaic Spanish with Turkish and Greek. As powerful as the production is, animation will make it even more so. Ukrainian sand artist, Kseniya Simonova brings the story to life with her masterful sand animation, creating something new from something old; something that, by its very nature, is constantly evolving.

Alonzo King Lines Ballet

Human voices from remote corners of the globe convene on the dance stage as Alonzo collection King LINES Ballet explores the power of lost languages. Over half the world’s nearly 7,000 languages are at risk of vanishing by the end of the century. Poet and activist Bob Holman is a leading advocate of linguistic preservation and revitalization in indigenous communities. His recorded of native peoples’ poetry and song informs the soundscape of this evening-length ballet choreographed by Alonzo King.

Monty Alexander Trio

Back by popular demand, the jazz master from New York by way of Kingston, Jamaica, Monty Alexander, returns with his empathetic, hand-in-glove trio. Monty’s playing has always retained a strong Caribbean influence, but with a significant bebop flavor and a bright swinging feeling. Influenced predominantly by Nat Cole, Frank Sinatra, Oscar Peterson, and Wynton Kelly, His roots are evident in all of his playing, both on piano and the related melodica, a keyboarded wind instrument

Néstor Torres Group

Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, dynamic flautist Néstor Torres resided in Miami for many years and currently lives in California. Nestor has retained his Caribbean roots, while exploring jazz in its many forms with intriguing fusions with other genres. While his early inspirations were Dave Brubeck, Tito Puente and Cal Tjader, his early heroes were the classical flute icons Jean Pierre Rampal and his “man with the golden flute” (literally) successor, James Galway. Beyond them, his influences include Cuban legend Richard Egües, and jazz greats Herbie Mann and Hubert Laws.

“Gullah” comes from West African language and means “a people blessed by God.” “Ranky Tanky” translates loosely as “Work It,” or “Get Funky!” In this spirit this Charleston, SC based quintet performs timeless music of Gullah culture born in the southeastern Sea Island region of the United States. From playful game songs to ecstatic shouts, from heartbreaking spirituals to delicate lullabies, the musical roots of Charleston, SC are “rank” and fertile ground from which these contemporary artists are grateful to have grown.

Jazzmeia Horn

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Jazzmeia Horn became a New Yorker while attending the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Possessing a luminous gift that the late great Jon Hendricks called "... one of the best voices I've heard in over 40 years," the 2015 Thelonious Monk Competition winner is a rising jazz superstar. Her 2017 debut, A Social Call, was nominated for a Grammy Award and voted the best jazz vocal debut in the 2017 NPR Music Jazz Critics Poll.

Cyro Baptista and Banquet of the Spirits

A veteran who has worked with the likes of Paul Simon, Herbie Hancock, Yo-Yo Ma, Cassandra Wilson, Sting, the New York Philharmonic, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and many others, Brazilian über-percussionist Cyro Baptista performs blazing hardbop solos, breathtaking West African harping, and exquisite Brazilian rhythms. The sounds all coalescing into a carnivalesque stew of joy and irreverence as these astonishing players draw freely on sounds and instruments from around the globe to create utterly unique amalgamations.

Christian Sands Trio

Christian Sands was born in New Haven, Connecticut. Like many accomplished performers, he began piano lessons at the age of four. He comments that "I grew up with [the piano in the house, in the classroom and on stage, so it has always been a huge part of my life." As a teenager he was mentored by the legendary Billy Taylor. He then went on to study at the Manhattan School of Music. Upon graduation, he joined acclaimed bassist Christian McBride's Inside Straight band as well as McBride's trio. Christian now leads his own band full-time.

Dee Dee Bridgewater

Over the course of a multifaceted career, Grammy and Tony Award-winning jazz giant Dee Dee Bridgewater reached the upper echelon of vocalists, putting her unique spin on standards, as well as taking intrepid leaps of faith in re-structuring jazz classics. A fearless explorer and keeper of tradition, the three-time Grammy-winner won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album for Eleanora Fagan (1915-1959): To Billie With Love From Dee Dee. In addition, in 2017, Ms Bridgewater was the recipient of the NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship, the highest award our nation bestows upon jazz artists.
