Pink Martini

Pink Martini was formed in 1994 by aspiring Portland politician Thomas Lauderdale, who got the idea to provide more entertaining, uplifting music at political functions for causes such as civil rights, education, public broadcasting and more. A year later, Lauderdale called on former Harvard classmate China Forbes to join the band, and together they began writing songs together for the "little orchestra." Since then, the group has been known for drawing its inspiration from a myriad of sources, including romantic Hollywood musicals of the '40s and '50s, and a multilingual repertoire of diverse genres like jazz, Latin, lounge and classical, all shaken and stirred with cinematic influences, driving rhythms and exotic vocals. A typical Pink Martini concert spans the globe, from Cuban rumba and Parisian cafe tunes to Carnival disco.

Black Violin

Kev Marcus (violin) and Wil Baptiste (viola) are Black Violin, two classically trained musicians who, along with their DJ TK, have created the ultimate synergy between classical and hip-hop music and with it an incredible opportunity to reach children. Kev Marcus and Wil b, both graduates of Dillard Performing Arts High School, used their musical talents to earn full scholarships to college. Now Black Violin wants to make sure that young people get the same exposure to the arts and opportunity that they did. Performing and touring with P. Diddy, Kanye West, Fifty Cent, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, the Eagles and more, Black Violin has committed themselves for the next few years to give back and teach children that classical music is cool.

With its bizarre brew of eroticism and religion, Richard Strausss Salome was so disturbing when it first appeared that it was banned in Vienna and London. Today, its lost none of its power to send shivers through the audience, and this production eerily captures all the depravity of King Herods court in ancient Jerusalem. Starring as the princess whose sexually charged dance leads straight to her own destruction is Melody Moore, the dynamic soprano who has electrified the operas of Janácek, Wagner, and Puccini. Come see Salome cast her potent spell over South Florida. Each program is accompanied by a pre-show lecture an hour before curtain with a talk-back session immediately following the performance. Youth Pride Band of South Florida: Season 7

Each year the Pride Wind Ensemble invites high school students from the tri-county area to apply to the Youth Pride Band whose mission is to teach inclusion and acceptance while standing up against bullying in our schools. Guest conductor and prolific composer Robert Longfield will conduct the students in the first half of the performance. Adult mentors and members of the Pride Wind Ensemble will join forces with the Youth Band on the second half of the performance with well over 120 musicians on stage.

Sierra Hull is a talented young singer and mandolin player who has shared the stage with the likes of Alison Krauss, IIIrd Tyme Out, Sam Bush, Mountain Heart and Ricky Skaggs. Sierra Hull began playing mandolin at age eight, and quickly became noted on the national festival scene for her fluid, inventive picking – winning several mandolin and guitar championships in the process. Still in her teens, Sierra Hull displays instrumental facility and musical maturity well beyond her age. Hull has developed into an accomplished vocalist since first starting to sing publicly two years ago.

The Hot Sardines

The Hot Sardines were born when a guy and a girl met at an open vintage-jazz jam session advertised on Craigslist. Between two noodle shops on 49th Street, they discovered a mutual love for songs from the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s. This is straight-up, foot-stomping jazz, literally: the band includes a tap dancer whose feet count as two members of the rhythm section.

George Winston

George Winston is known for interpreting pieces on solo piano by his most beloved composers. The inspiration for this happened in 1965 when, at 16, he saw "A Charlie Brown Christmas," featuring Vince Guaraldi's timeless soundtrack. In addition to Guaraldi, other influences on Winston include Professor Longhair, The Doors, Frank Zappa, Randy Newman and Sam Cooke. Outside of his piano compositions and performances, he is also an accomplished blues harmonica and slack-key guitar player. In concert, he'll play selections from his seasonal favorites performed in his melodic folk style, as well as some New Orleans R&B, stride piano, and more.

Andy McKee

Andy McKee is an American finger-style guitar player with a major reputation among guitar players for his musicality and virtuosity on the acoustic guitar. His reputation stems from his YouTube videos. McKee plays the whole instrument, clacking and thumping the body, plucking the fret strings and at times working the fretboard overhand. He transforms the steel string guitar into a full orchestra via his use of altered tunings, tapping, partial capos, percussive hits and a signature two-handed technique. He’s been featured as a cover story in both Acoustic Guitar Magazine in the U.S. and Acoustic Magazine in the UK, and is also the figurehead of the unique Guitar Masters tours which has traveled the world over.

Loston Harris Trio: Loston Harris Plays the Great American Songbook

For more than a decade jazz pianist, Loston Harris, has headlined at the legendary Bemelmans Bar located in The Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan’s storied Upper East Side.
