#Trailblazing2017 Global Conference on Meaningful Employment

Business, Benefit/Fundraiser, Community Event, Education

#TRAILBLAZING2017 is a one-day global Business-to-Business conference in South Florida, USA, held at the newly renovated Broward Center for the Performing Arts on September 30, 2017. This conference unites top corporations actively recruiting adults with developmental disabilities, enterprising micro-businesses, self-employed individuals, angel investors, corporate-based accessibility teams, assistive technology developers and disability jobs portal agencies to discuss the global employment crisis facing millions of people with developmental disabilities. Our pioneering conference in 2016 was recently mentioned by Forbes contributor Michael Bernick in his insightful article, ‘Where is Autism Employment Headed in 2017?’ We have seen a trend, as both parents and professionals, in which great events, conferences and conversations about disabilities occur in a vacuum. Often both the speakers and listeners are already disability advocates and are somehow connected to disabilities. This conference intends to break that cycle and bring in individuals, companies and organizations to the audience, that don’t necessarily have a connection to disabilities, tasked with fostering a sense of advocacy in each and every one them through education, inspiration and guidance. Hence, our conference is considered to be a Business-2-Business Conference, not a disability conference. We want the Business Community to learn, understand and appreciate that persons with developmental disabilities are an asset to the workforce, and the engagement should be based on that context, and not based solely on charity. Our speakers will serve as a critical piece of this education, inspiration and guidance our business community needs, in order for them to perceive the disability community as a value proposition to the workforce. We expect upwards of 600 in attendance and this is primarily a Business 2 Business Conference, hence our audience profile is business executives, professionals, and a mix of HR and Disability professionals.
