The It Gets Better Project

General

The It Gets Better Project began in 2010 after writer Dan Savage and his husband, Terry Miller, created a YouTube video in which worldwide supporters assured youth who felt bullied that "it gets better." The grassroots campaign has evolved into a week-long residency in which local students and adults work with It Gets Better representatives on anti-bullying, self-image, tolerance and acceptance. This presentation includes live performances - poems, songs, skits and more - from the It Gets Better workshop participants with Slow Burn Theatre at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the It Gets Better cast of professional artists. Community partners include Fort Lauderdale Pride, Broward County Schools, SunServe, Our Fund, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and Slow Burn Theatre Company. This workshop and performance is made possible by a grant from the Community Foundation of Broward County.
