Tiger Army


The California punk trio Tiger Army came together in early 1996, opening for AFI and earning respect from other players and fans including Rancid frontman and Hellcat Records co-founder Tim Armstrong. With his interest, the band released their first album in 1999. Over the years Tiger Army has been on the rise, eventually making it to the VANS Warped Tour lineup starting in 2004.

The Toronto punk band drew notice in the Lower 48 almost from its beginning. Jon Caramanica of The New York Times wrote that their 2013 debut album made Pup "one of the most exciting punk bands of recent years." In 2016 Caramanica praised their second release, "The Dream is Over," just as highly, reporting that it maintained the quintessential "raucous energy" of punk "while cutting it through with vivid storytelling and palpable feeling." He singled out lead singer Stefan Babcock's lyrics, which are wry and self-deprecating – even self-defeating. The band's musicianship in live performance is notably sloppy, which contributes to the explosiveness of their sound. Babcock howls so much and so loudly that he early on already developed a cyst on his vocal chords, damage that may put an early end to his singing career.

Built to Spill


Built to Spill hails from the unlikely town of Boise, Idaho. In the 1990s the indie rockers found the middle ground between postmodern, pavement-style pop and the loose, spacious jamming of Neil Young. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Doug Martsch is at the core of the band. Band members Brett Nelson (bass), Scott Plouf (drums) Jim Roth (guitar) and Brett Netson (guitar) have all been musicians for two decades.

Robert Randolph


Robert Randolph's music fuses rock with funk and blues through the traditional gospel sound of the pedal steel guitar. 'Rolling Stone' included the artist, whose sound is inspired by such beloved '70s soul/funk artists as Earth, Wind & Fire, Sly & the Family Stone and Stevie Ray Vaughan, on their list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." He's currently touring to support his third studio album, 'We Walk This Road,' which is a celebration of the traditions of African-American music over the past century and the hopeful, uplifting social messages borne of the last 30 years.

The Melvins


The Melvins coalesced as a band in 1983 in Montesano, Washington, at the base of the Olympic Peninsula. They influenced the sludge and drone subgenres, including Nirvana, and were themselves influenced by Black Flag's mix of punk and metal on their album "My War," and other slow punk acts like Swans, Flipper and Wipers.

The Dan Band is a comedy band fronted by Dan Finnerty, a former "Stomp" performer. Dan Finnerty caught America's attention as the foul-mouthed wedding singer in the hit film "Old School," performing his now-infamous foul-mouthed rendition of "Total Eclipse of the Heart," as well as his other appearances in Todd Phillips' movies "Starsky & Hutch" and "The Hangover." What started as a drunken joke for Finnerty singing '" Am Woman" at a karaoke bar has spiraled out of control into The Dan Band - a cult hit that has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times

The HU is a band from Mongolia that blends heavy metal and traditional Mongolian throat singing. Their first two videos (“Yuve Yuve Yu” and “Wolf Totem”) immediately went viral garnering the band over 18 million views. The explosive reaction to The HU resulted in a number of features about the band in international media such as NPR, ET India Times, Playboy Mexico, Jack Canal+Fr, Hong Kong 01, DW News Germany and others.

The ReBirth Brass Band


ReBirth Brass Band is a New Orleans marching band ensemble that mixes funk and jazz with a tuba. Formed in 1983 by the Frazier brothers, the Grammy-winning group has gone from being mainstays of the French Quarter to becoming recognized all over the world. Their signature brand of heavy funk has become synonymous with their hometown and that relationship has only been further solidified by their association with the HBO series, 'Treme.'
