In our newest visitor experience, come face-to-face with two of our otters! Our otter specialists will teach you about how they are cared for on a daily basis. Learn all about otters’ diet and get a look at the filtration system that keeps their pool looking clean. You’ll even have the opportunity to feed an otter and participate in a training session. “Hall of Heroes” brings guests into the world of superheroes, crime-getters, gadgets and spies through an immersive experience. As soon as visitors enter the “Hall of Heroes,” they immediately find themselves in the thick of the action in an ambitious, custom-built space. Their journey takes them through several themed environments with surprises around each corner. The Museum of Discovery and Science to Debut Two New Traveling Exhibits: Turtle Travels and Attack of the Bloodsuckers on Saturday, September 14. • The Turtle Travels Exhibit is a hands-on experience that allows visitors of all ages to discover fascinating facts about what it’s like to be a turtle — how turtle bodies adapt themselves to many different habitats, why turtles need shells, the kinds of hazards they encounter in the wild and why turtles have been important to many different cultures. • Guests will have the opportunity to try on turtle and tortoise shells, migrate on a gigantic game board, experience “turtle vision”, design a turtle-friendly housing development, and much more! • The Attack of the Blood Suckers Exhibit is a kid-friendly exhibit that explores the science of the what, why, when and how of mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, leeches and other parasites. • This hands-on exhibit is an opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of blood-feeding parasites, learn why bloodsuckers are important to the ecosystem and how to keep them out of your system. Come face-to-face with North American River Otters at the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS). · The Otter Encounter gives guests an entirely new way to interact up-close with the popular marine mammals. · The encounter take place every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday and lasts 45 minutes · Guests have the opportunity to feed and participate in a training session with an otter. · Participants learn about the otter’s diet and get an up-close look at the filtration system that keeps the otter pool clean and fresh. · The Otter Encounter costs $50 per person and includes admission to MODS. · Otter Encounter Participants need to be over the age of 8. The Museum of Discovery and Science to Debut Two New Traveling Exhibits: Turtle Travels and Attack of the Bloodsuckers on Saturday, September 14. • The Turtle Travels Exhibit is a hands-on experience that allows visitors of all ages to discover fascinating facts about what it’s like to be a turtle — how turtle bodies adapt themselves to many different habitats, why turtles need shells, the kinds of hazards they encounter in the wild and why turtles have been important to many different cultures. • Guests will have the opportunity to try on turtle and tortoise shells, migrate on a gigantic game board, experience “turtle vision”, design a turtle-friendly housing development, and much more! • The Attack of the Blood Suckers Exhibit is a kid-friendly exhibit that explores the science of the what, why, when and how of mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, leeches and other parasites. • This hands-on exhibit is an opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of blood-feeding parasites, learn why bloodsuckers are important to the ecosystem and how to keep them out of your system. Saturday, September 14, 2019 – Sunday, January 5, 2020 Monday – Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday: 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Details: Admission to the exhibits are included with a purchase of a ticket to MODS.
