Arts Ballet Theatre: Firebird, Le Spectre de la Rose, Pentimento

Classical Dance

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida opens its season with three extraordinary pieces: Pentimento, considered Vicente Nebrada's choreographic; Le Spectre de la Rose, a beautiful short ballet based on a poem by Théophile Gautier; while Issaev's choreographic version of Firebird, an audience's favorite, over Stravinsky's brilliant score will be presented in a renewed and outstanding production. Arts Ballet Theatre maintains a very strict late seating policy, please allow adequate time for traffic and parking. Not recommended for children under 4 years of age.

English Vinglish


The story of a quiet, sweet tempered housewife who endures small slights from her well educated husband and daughter everyday because of her inability to speak and understand English. She is resourceful and open-minded but somehow these traits don't get noticed by them. Then one day, on trip to visit her sister in Manhattan, she decides to enroll in an English Learners class and meets a host of new people who teach her to value herself beyond the narrow perspective of her family. Hindi, and Tamil with English subtitles. Not rated. Running time 133 min. Hosted by Shelly Isaacs who will introduce the film and lead a post-screening discussion. In this hilarious sequel to the barnyard blockbuster, Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type, good ol' Farmer Brown has left his city-slicker brother in charge of his farm while he takes a much-needed vacation. He's left detailed instructions on how to take care of the animals including the important warning "Keep an eye on Duck. He's Trouble." But when the instructions fall into the wrong hands (or wings!), Duck takes the opportunity to do a little re-writing -- with a few creative embellishments that result in madcap musical mutiny This funny and colorful musical for young audiences teaches respect, compromise, and the value of friendship. Giggle, Giggle, Quack is based on the popular barnyard series of books by Doreen Cronin which includes Click, Click, Moo: Cows that Type and Dooby, Dooby Moo, and is brought to life to by the award winning Dallas Children's Theater, thrilling audiences of all ages for 26 season.

'Menopause The Musical,' written and produced by Jeanie Linders, is a celebration of women who are on the brink of, in the middle of, or have survived "The Change." It all starts with four women (a power woman, a soap star, an earth mother and Iowa housewife) at a NYC Bloomingdale's lingerie sale with nothing in common but a black lace bra and memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, chocolate binges and more.

En esta oportunidad el humorista se pone a tono con los cambios recientes que atraviesa su vida, la mudanza a los Estados Unidos, la paternidad, dejar la radio, la tecnologia, las redes sociales, y en especial el inquietante intento por digerir la politica...bueno...en realidad no es eso. No podemos mentirles, lo que mantuvo a Chataing alejado de los escenarios los últimos meses fue la grabación de fuertes escenas de sexo que dejo pendientes el Coco Sosa para una telenovela justo antes de caer preso. El Coco y Chataing parecen dos gotas de agua, Luis recibió una importante oferta para culminar el rodaje asi que...lo perdimos. Este evento puede incluir contenida u lenguaje para adulto. Esta presentacion será enteramente en Espanól.

Charles Zelden PhD: A Postmortem of the 2018 Midterm Elections


What if we held a midterm election and everybody came? The answer depends on WHICH part of everybody showed up. Who was most energized? What issues and concerns dominated voters concerns? Or simply: Did the Blue Wave rise or did the Trump Train rumble? Join Dr. Charles L. Zelden to discuss outcomes and lessons of what many argue will be the most consequential midterm election in a generation. Dr. Zelden is Professor of history and political science at Nova Southeastern University. A legal-Constitutional historian, Zelden has published seven books on civil rights, voting rights and the judicial process. Among his publications: Bush v Gore: Exposing the Hidden Crisis in American Democracy (2008) and Thurgood Marshall: Race, Rights and the Struggle for a More Perfect Union (2013). He is currently writing a book: The American Judicial System: A Very Short Introduction. Zelden is also a regular commentator on politics and current events for local and national media outlets.
