Fort Lauderdale Story Slam

Community Event, Poetry Reading/Spoken Word

The Fort Lauderdale Story Slam is a storytelling contest that features people telling 5-7 minute true stories about their own lives. Each event includes seasoned storytellers as well as first-timers, telling stories on the same theme. The evening mixes a wide range of styles, and includes comical stories as well as emotional tearjerkers. In between the stories the hosts invite members of the audience to join in with fun storytelling games. The theme of the evening on August 11th is "You Can't Judge a Book By Its Cover." If you’ve got a great story and you’d like to be in the slam, please submit your idea online at www.worldandeye.com/storyslam or by phone or email: (954) 540-9897 / helen@worldandeye.com. There is $100 prize money for the favorite story of the night, and two $50 prizes for the runners-up.
