Lauren Mitchell

R&B/Soul, Blues

Through a bold mix of her original material, songs she hand-picked from the repertoires of her friends, and select covers of tunes first performed by Etta James, Bettye Lavette, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin and Betty Davis, Mitchell tells a blues story that’s been a lifetime in the making. It’s a stylistically varied set of 13 songs expertly recorded by drummer and Grammy-winning producer Tony Braunagel, whose work with Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, and Robert Cray have made him one of today’s most in-demand blues industry professionals.

The Five Boroughs

Formed in 1986 in South Florida by singer Frank Lovino to carry on the tradition of the harmony vocal groups of the 1950s and 1960s. The Five Boroughs originally consisted of several transplanted New Yorkers, many of whom were longtime veterans of the doo-wop circuit. The vocal quartet took their name from their origins further north, namely the boroughs of Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island and the Bronx in New York. The group is now celebrating 33 years of performances in Florida and throughout the United States.

Spencer and Sequoia: Live in Florida

Pop

Spencer and Sequoia began as an intercontinental musical collaboration via email. In her hometown of Auckland, New Zealand, Sequoia would write and record demos. Those demos would get sent to Spencer, a Seattleite living in New York. He would then work on the songs with his band, and they'd send their work back to Sequoia. When she finally made the trip to America to perform with the band, what started as a musical connection became much more. Come see the dynamic duo share their love and music.

Draw Each Other: Black and White

Drawings/Works on Paper, Class/Workshop

This class is for students interested in studying character and dramatic composition. During each class, students will pair up and pose to draw each other in relaxed poses. In the middle of the class, they will switch. The following week, there will be a different pairing. The goal is to draw and model a pose of everyone in the class. At the end of the 6-weeks, we will compare all the drawings that were produced of each student, and see what they reveal about the models and the artists.

Julius Sanna

The Julius Sanna Band ushers in the Holidays this season with a delightful global tour of music. Julius Sanna is a Tanzanian born, Kenya raised and America refined guitarist, composer, and vocalist. He has toured Europe and the US entertaining audiences with his eclectic and unique blend of jazz, groove and African rhythms. His George Benson influenced guitar style, and original interpretation of well-known standards makes him a delight to listen to. When you combine an accomplished vocalist, pianist, and arranger all in one individual, you have the dynamic Diane Marino. Diane was born in Manhattan, NYC. She started her early piano training of classical studies and jazz improvisation from the age of 10. Diane graduated from NYC’s ‘Famed’ High School for the Performing Arts and later received her B.M. degree from Mannes College of Music in Manhattan as a piano performance major where she studied piano with world-renowned concert pianist Murray Perahia.

Motown in Motion pays tribute to “The Temptations” and “The Four Tops” and features four very talented singers and dancers. Larry Johnson, the lead singer, has performed and still is playing with many of the originals. Carlos Averhoff Jr. Quartet

Dick conducted the Glenn Miller Special Unit for over 12 years, including performances for U.S. Presidents, Tony Awards, and concert tours of Poland, South America and The Phillipines.

He began playing all types of the Blues -- Delta, Piedmont, Texas, and Gospel.

Yvette Norwood-Tiger, vocalist, songwriter, vocal coach, recording artist and The Recording Academy (GRAMMY) voting member, is a Detroit, Michigan native who hails from a family of musicians, including a father who played guitar and a mother who played drums. Yvette is the founder and director of the Palm Beach International Jazz Festival Organization. Her CDs, A'LA ELLA! and whY NoT... Love, Peace, Joy, Jazz, features music from great composers such as Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, and the Gershwins. Her current project, CD titled LOVE IS, celebrates the many aspects of love with jazz standards and original compositions. Yvette’s general repertoire includes jazz standards, bebop, and Latin jazz. She performs with vocally clean and pure interpretations of the great American Songbook, while emphasizing intonation and storytelling. Her vocal styling and texture is often compared to that of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.
